Italy Rocks x 2

Here’s another fabulous Italian late seventies/ early eighties post-disco aera showgirl. The first video is also stolen from planetfabulon.com (like the gay monopoly) which is climbing higher in the list of my favourite blogs from day to day.

Fighting And Dancing

Social practice in arts x 2: The first video I found on the great arts blog “Art Fag City” – it’s an excerpt of a performance that’s shown at the “Younger Than Jesus” triennal at the New Museum in NY at the moment. I must admit that I know neither the artist nor the musician but the video still impresses me although the quality is kind of poor. The second one is part of a video installation from Mark Leckey from 1999 that brings together the (here: dancing) styles of different youth cultures. It’s actually very short so you’ll just get a glimpse on what the whole movie could be. And again, the quality is bad, sorry. The whole piece can be seen at the so-called Boros bunker in Berlin.

Heather Parisi: 80′s Italian Showgirl

I didn’t really find out a lot about this woman because all pages about her are italian, even her wikipedia-entry. I just know that her name is Heather Parisi, she was born in L.A. and became a famous “showgirl” in Italy which I think means that she combined classical revue dancing with trashy eighties pop aesthetics. And she also worked as a singer and an actress. I won’t post all the videos of her you can find on youtube (thanks to House of Vader) here, just these two I like most. If someone knows more about this woman, let me/ us know.
