Brian Kenny: Drawings for Petrou\Man

Artist Brian Kenny not only has a fancy new website, but also posted a couple of really cute drawings inspired by the Petrou\Man Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 show presented at this year’s New York fashion week on his blog a couple of days ago. One of them is also the motive of the show’s invitation. You also find a couple of 3D pictures of the collection by Brian’s boyfriend Slava Mogutin on Mogutin’s blog.

T MINUS 20: T-Shirt Designs & Art By Brian Kenny, Marcos Chin, Gio Black Peter, Olek

T MINUS 20 is an exhibition curated by IGNITE, which opened a few days ago at Christopher Henry Gallery. The pictures below show T-shirt designs by three of the artists participating in the exhibition, the shirts were exhibited in the 1st level of the show (the 2nd level is showing video art). I found the on the websites of the artists. In the video you also get a glimpse at the performative knit art of Agata Olek. More about the exhibition and its concept here. Picture above by Brian Kenny (black t-shirt by Joey Israel, white t-shirt by Scooter LaForge).

Vaginal Davis: Speaking From The Diaphragm

I’m a little late with this: Drag legend Vaginal Davis is currently showing a 10-day-long performance piece at 122, a performance space in New York. Following the  text on the PS 122 website the show “re-examines the heyday of 1970s American daytime television chat and variety programs. (…) Ms Davis isn’t interested in assimilating into the mainstream entertainment complex, but instead wishes to dissect a kind of TV staple and reconfigure it by presenting an array of live and Skype guests from the various worlds of literature, dance, theatre, film and art.” Amongst the illustrious guests of the upcoming evenings are Bruce LaBruce, Annie Sprinkle & Beth Stephens, Slava Mogutin, JD Samson & MEN, Johanna Fateman, Genesis Breyer P-Orrigge and Joel Gibb. More about the show on the website of PS 122, Vaginal Davis’ blog. You also find a few pics of the appearence of Brian Kenny and Gio Black Peter two days ago on Slava Mogutin’s blog. The picture on top of this post is part of this series.

Good Blogs Private Affairs Special: My Life At Night / SORE

On My Life at Night Johnny McGoven aka the Gay Pimp since last year frequently uploads pictures of his nightlife in New York, where he seems to have a pretty good time (see below, thanks for the link, Jonathan!). And if his collection of snapshots of a pretty undressed partying Brian Kenny doesn’t really satisfy your thirst for private snapshots of queer V.I.Ps I can also recommend SORE, a blog started by a whole collective of people and who amongst other stuff share a lot of nice pictures of their private life and the nightlife in L.A. there. Part of the group is Hunx And His Punx singer Seth Bogart who not only frequently appears in the picture collections but also from time to time postes personal stuff like his resolutions for 2010. But let’s get back to NY first:

Brian Kenny: In Black And White*

*Actually they’re made of gold, copper, holographic and glow-in-the-dark foil. I never believed the hype, but I quite like these so I’ll shut my mouth from now on. More of them on Mr. Kenny’s blog and on Slava Mogutin’s one where I found them (thanks for linking me by the way!).

Good Blogs: Artists Special

There are actually a lot of young contemporary gay/ queer artists (and also many who call themselves artists) having their own blogs. And although I sometimes have the impression that this whole scene is full of guys that are way too narcisstic and detached from the rest of the world to be really taken serious, there are a lot of blogs worth having a look at. Here are 10 of them:

Let me know if you know good blogs by female/ transgender artists! I have to admit that I didn’t find many yet.
