+++ A small musical suggestion first: Check out Prince of Assyra, a pretty interesting Swedish singer/songwriter Riku introduced me to a few days ago. Click here for his Myspace page +++ There’s a new video by Ali Love directed by Trevor Jackson (Playgroup). I don’t like it, although the song is great. Anyways, I thought I’d keep you updated. You find it here on BIGSTERO +++ Tracey Thorn has posted the song “Oh, The Divorsces” as a free download on her website. It’s going to the opener of her upcoming album “Love and its Opposite” (which is going to be released in May) +++ Colin of Quinnford & Scout has posted this beautiful new track by Ex-Anticon-act Deadelus on his tumblr. You can download it here. Or watch the promo video for the new album “Righteous Fists of Harmony” on Vimeao +++ El Perro Del Mar have recently covered “Shelter” by The xx. Watch the performance here (Thanks, Knut) +++ This is the new video by We Have Band (new album in April). It looks pretty good and like a lot of work:

Music Ticker: Jonsi, Tomorrow, In A Year, Two Door Cinema Club, The Magnetic Fields, Gil Scott-Heron
Saturday, February 6, 2010
+++ “Do Go” is another song that will be on Jonsi’s first solo album “Go” that’s going to be released on Aprtil 5th. Click here to listen to the song and here for the tour dates his record company has just announced +++ On the website Fairtilizer you can now listen to a roundtable conversation of The Knife, Mt. Sims and Planningtorock. It was recorded to provide fans and journalists with some backround information about “Tomorrow, In A Year”. It’s pretty interesting +++ Musically Two Door Cinema Club may not be the most exciting band of the universe, but I liked the video for their debut single “I Can Talk”. Watch their latest one for “Undercover Martyn” here, it’s also kind of nice +++ The Magnetic Fields not only have a new record out, there’ will also be a documentary about songwriter Stepin Merrit released in the next few weeks. Watch the Trailer for “Strange Powers” on OMG blog +++ The beautiful video below has been recorded for Gil Scott-Heron’s new single “Me And The Devil”. His album “I’m New Here”, will be released next week. It’s his first new studio album since 1994 +++
Music Ticker: Yeasayer, Clifton, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Knife, Younger Lovers
Thursday, January 28, 2010
+++ O.N.E, mabye the best song on Yeasayer’s new album “Odd Blood” is not only the band’s new single but can also now be downloaded for free on their webpage (in exchange for your Email address) +++ East Village Boys has recently published an interview with an artist called Clifton who seems to be worth having a closer look at. The songs on his Myspace page are awesome +++ The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released a new video for their song “Skeletons”. You can watch the clip and a making over at Pitchfork +++ The Knife’s 90-minute-electro-opera “Tomorrow, In A Year” which will soon be released on CD can now be prelistened to in it’s complete length here (Thanks, Sebastian!) +++ I proudly present the new video by the Younger Lovers (via Think Pink Radio). It’s for the song “Sha-Boo-Lee”:

You can download it on Pitchfork +++ A few days ago Jón Þór Birgisson aka Jónsi visited the radio station WNYC for a little interview and to play an acoustic set of a few of his new songs. Click here to listen to both of it +++ A lot of you may already know that The xx have released this new video for their song “VRC”, so I decided to post this older video by YACHT here not only because I really like but because this project definitely needs a bigger audience and some of you may not know it yet:

Huge Music Ticker: Terre Thaemlitz, The Knife, Ali Love, Lady Gaga/Grum, Róisín Murphy, Warpaint
Wednesday, January 6, 2010
+++ Terre Thaemlitz aka DJ Sprinkles has recorded a georgeous ambient mix for Resident Advisor (Thanks, Jan) +++ The Knife have recently been working on a studio version of the Darwin opera they have staged in collaboration with the Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma last year. One of the tracks of this new album (that will be released on the 1st of May) features Planningtorock and Mt.Sims and can now be listend to and downloaded on their website (via GorillavsBear) +++ Ali Love (who’s track “Diminishing Returns” completely made my New Year’s Eve evening) is back with another addictive song called “Love Harder”. Listen to it on his MySpace page or download an extended version of the song on Big Stereo +++ Check out this version of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” by Grum – it’s even catchier than the one Hercules And Love Affair have done (Thanks, Gunnar) +++ After Dizzy Rascal’s “Dirty Cash” Róisín Murphy gives us the next good reason to be happy that the (early) nineties are back. Click here to listen to her new song “Momma’s Place” on Youtube +++ This is another beautiful music video I found on Life Is Not A Rehearsal. Warpaint is a band from L.A. and the video for “Stars” was released in autumn last year:
Music Ticker: MEN, We Have Band, Sam Amidon, Hype and Sick, The Presets
Wednesday, December 16, 2009
+++ Yesterday MEN have played a concert for an alternative cooking show called “Dinner With The Band” that is produced by the IFC. Seems like Johanna Fateman is not part of the project anymore and JD Samson found herself two nice new band members. You can watch the clips of the show here +++ London-based Kitsuné-act We Have Band are going to release a new album in spring 2010. You can already download a new track called “Honeytrap” on their website. Click here for the video (via Big Stereo) +++ And they are not the only ones: Folk-songwriter Sam Amidon has announced a new album for May 2001 co-featuring Beth Orton, Nico Muhly, Shahzad Ismaily and others. Click here to listen to and download his beautiful new track “How Come That Blood” that sounds as if Arthur Russell was reborn (via Pitchfork) +++ The blog Hype and Sick I just found is a great source for new electronic acts, downloads of free tracks and remixes and most of it all: fancy videos +++ Life Is Not A Rehearsel has posted this great video by Sydney-based duo The Presets today. It’s already half a year old but I think it’s worth being reposted here. There you go:
Music Ticker: Neon Indian/ Grizzly Bear, Final Fantasy, The Younger Lovers, Peaches, OK Go
Thursday, December 3, 2009
+++ Neon Indian have turned on their eighties generator again to remix Grizzly Bear’s “Cheerleaders”. You can ckeck them out the two results of this experiment on their MySpace page (via Pitchfork) +++ Owen Pallet aka Final Fantasy is releasing a new album on January 12th. One of the new songs called “Lewis Takes Action” can already be downloaded on the label’s website +++ The Younger Lovers have been interviewd by a nineties riot grrl/hardcor zine called Liquid. You find the interview on the band’s website +++ Peaches‘ video for “Trick Or Treat” is definitely the most boring one in her series, but it makes sense considered that the track is also the most boring one on the album +++ If Prince would be an indie rock band he would sound like OK Go. This is their new video (via Colin Quinn):
