Tattoo(ed) Impressions: Mara Special
Maras are violent street gangs that mostly operate in networks in Middle America and parts of the US. The biggest, most brutal and most famous one of them is called Mara Salvatrucha, a group which originated in L.A. and has spread throughout the whole country. To show the affiliation to the group, a lot of its members cover themselves in tattoos which I think – although I really don’t wanna glorify these guys (most of the following pictures were taken in prison) – are kind of impressive.
Sadao Hasegawa: Japanese Kitsch Porn Drawings
These are some drawings by a Japanese artist called Sadao Hasegawa who took his life in 1999. You find a really extensive collecion of his stuff and more information about him on this webpage, which “focuses on male oriented orient art, primarily, though not exclusively, from Japan”. It’s Gallery No 4. I wonder if there’s a name for that kind of genre. These are the first hard dicks on this page by the way. I hope you appreciate that fact.

Fabrice Neaud: Diaries in Black And White
I spent an unusal huge amount of time of my summer holidays in France with something I haven’t done in a while: reading comics. Or BDs, bandes dessinnées, as the French say. The person who brought my interest for the genre back to life is Fabrice Neaud. His drawn diaries (he calls them “Journals”) are published on a on a small French publishing company called “ego-comme-X“. The first one of them has been released in the mid-ninties, the last one, No 4, in 2002. Although I can’t always identify with Nead’s first-person narrator I really like the guy’s style: On the one hand it’s very simple and introverted including a lot of text. On the other hand it can be very effectful and sometimes also very sexy. Here are some pages of “Journal” No 1 and 2 I scanned in. The books can be ordered here.
